The European Union strives to improve transport efficiency thanks to developments in the field of intelligent transport systems.
Intelligent transport systems include various methods of improving the safety, and increasing the road network capacity and energy efficiency of the transport system. Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) will play an important role towards improved transport efficiency and reducing its negative impacts.
Similar to the last year, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) organises a two-day co-creation workshop to introduce the possible implications that Connected and Automated Vehicles can have on road transport. Participants from candidate and potential candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo* – This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence – Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey are strongly encouraged to apply. The workshop is open to practitioners, researchers and policy makers from fields such as automotive, transport, energy, mechanical and electric engineering.
